Friday Night Blue Knights

We had quite an adventure with our Blue Knights group last night. The boys were all supposed to meet for their lesson, campfire and camping but it didn't quite work out for the camping part. Mostly it was a rainy, wet Friday (desperately needed-so no complaining!). It was decided to give the cookout and camping a try. There were about 10 families who showed up for the cookout part and already a nice fire was going as well as 4 tents were up. The first thing the boys did was to make their meal in a foil packet(Laura, Joey and I had veggies only in ours.) After this was done, they were all carried out to the fire for cooking. We cooked hot dogs for those who wanted one. Allen(kiddo) cooked Joey's for him. Anthony had fallen asleep on the ride there and slept on the couch in the ouse for quite awhile. The kids played flashlight tag and other games in the dark. finally the food was ready. It was quite a challenge trying to figure out whose was whose. Anthony woke up when the food was ready. We sat on a chair(until it tipped and we fell off-ouch!) Then their dad showed up. the kids were so excited that he came also. After diiner there was cobbler that was cooked up the fire. We began to see lightning and hear thunder. A lot of kids went inside and then boom down came the storm. The tents apparently were being blown down and most of the dads were outside gathering eveything up. They came in soaked. We had great hostesses though who had no problem with everyone coming in and chilling out in their house. They had a soccer table game, playroom, pool table, screened deck(where all the dads disappeared to). There was hot chocolate for a warm up drink but no somores(smart move! That would have been a mess inside with so many kids.) The storm lasted for a half hour or so. We stayed until about 10:00 before we all headed home. Joey was most disappointed not to camp, but he fell asleep on the drive home anyways. What a fun night!
