Nature Walk

Yesterday was the day we had decided to do our monthly nature walk. We went to the John Marshall Birthplace Path. It was a 1/2 mile walk(one way) through a grassy trail that led to a little monument of where his home had once stood. When we first got there, Anthony was asleep so lucky him, got carried! We noticed the changing season, the dried up trees, hollow logs, a dried up creek, fallen trees, and good hiding spaces for animals. Along the way we saw a turtle. It was black and yellow with a butterfly shaped pattern on its back. It had it's head out and was sitting quietly under a branch. Allen and Anthony also saw a rabbit. At the end of the trail was a monument in the shape of a triangle. Tat was near where John Marshall's birthplace had been. There were several benches along the trail also that we sat on and talked for a few minutes before continuing. Back at the beginning of the trail, there were picnic tables. So we sat and had our snack of apples, peanut butter and crackers and water. We also took out the backpack full of colored pencils and markers and paper and the kids decided to draw a picture. Anthony wanted to draw pictures of turtles. Joey drew a picture of the daddy long legs and a cricket and a pokemon named Stantler. Laura drew a picture of the end of the trail with the monument and picnic shelter that was there. Allen drew a tree with a hole and the ground. It was a very pleasant time for all of us. What a good adventure!!
