In Memory Of...
My Uncle Tom. I can not even believe he passed away 1 week ago today. Last week was very sad and went by so fast. We received the news of his passing on Monday night. He has been sick for along time now (about 1 year fighting brain cancer). We knew there was not a lot of time left but, oh how quickly that day came! We were sad and told the kids also. We have been praying and hoping for a miracle. Laura and Joey took the news very hard. We went up to NJ on Friday. We went to the viewing, service and burial on Saturday. We were all emotional. The kids did ok. Laura and Joey cried. Laura had made Uncle Tom a pipe cleaner heart at Christmas and wrapped it up for him. They decided to bury it with him. Joey was always telling me how he was praying for Uncle Tom to get better. He was buried in his Eagle Scout uniform. He was very involved in Scouts with his boys. Allen wore his uniform. Allen(hubby) watched Anthony and Joey at the car during the service. Dan and Tim both spoke at the service. They gave great memories of their dad and it was so touching. I was so impressed they could even speak! My own memories of Uncle Tom are of a quiet, caring person. He spoke softly and listened well. I never heard him speak about other people, or be unkind. Last year when we were debating sending Allen to Goshen- he gave some good advice that was helpful. We saw him often at family gatherings. We are very sad and just know that he is at peace now and will keep his family always in our prayers.
