St. Nicholas Day

Yesterday was St. Nicholas Day. Over the past few years, the kids have started putting their shoes out the night before for a little gift from St. Nicholas. This year we decided to hang their stockings out and the kids wrote a short wish list note to St. Nicholas. They each received a coloring book(Joey,Anthony and Allen) and a party planner(Laura). They also each got an apple a bag of chocolate gold coins. They each also got a letter saying a few good things they have done this year as well as something to work on. We watched the St. Nicholas DVD we have. We went to the St. Nicholas website http://www.stnicholascenter.org/Brix?pageID=23 and did a lot of the activities there over the past week also. Laura and I made a craft with wooden spoons from the St. Nicholas website. That was a lot of fun. She has been making a lot of little pictures and putting them in our stockings. Also this year for Advent we are picking a name each week to do special acts of kindness for. I think everybody is enjoying that. We decided we'll pick new names each week and tell each other on Sunday nights, who we had previously. I really like how this feast day has been evolving in our house.
