Lent

Ashe Wednesday started off with a bang. It was a day of fasting. I did ok-kinda gave in a little when the cookies got back to my house but didn't go crazy eating those good cookies! The kids had their weekly pokemon battle. Allen was so happy, he won his tournament group so next week he'll get some prize. Then we went to Pizza Hut(hey-it was my only meal that day!!) Then to church. All the kids got ashes this year(last year-Joey refused to let them touch his head). Laura thought it was so awesome that even Anthony got ashes. They did fairly well considering what a long day it had been!! We have a crown of thorns(using a grapevine wreath and toothpicks) on our table and the kids will take out a toothpick for good deeds. We also bought some purple fabric so we can cover our statues or pictures. And we are writing Alleluia on a piece of paper and "burying" it until Easter. Those are some of our beginning steps for this Lenten season. We are also cutting back on snacks, tv, soda, and working on kindness, less fighting and patience.
